But I could not both live and utter it."

Day 2: Do you own any makeup palettes?  If yes, what are they?  If no, what ones do you want?
I recently bought the small shadow palette by Wet n Wild in Comfort Zone. I haven’t tried it but from all the other reviews I’ve heard, they’re supposed to be really good. I also have a Lunasol eyes shadow palette, which is very well pigmented and smooth.

Day 1:  What is your favorite makeup brand, and what are your top 5 favorite products from that brand?
Brand: Estee Lauder….don’t own that many products but I’m very pleased with all that I’ve tried.
Top 4 products (not in any particular order) — only have 4 that I want to mention so here you go:
lip gloss in pecan pie: I believe it is discontinued :( but I love the brownish-plum color. It’s very sophisticated and can go well with both brown and purple/plum tone of make up. It’s not very sticky or glossy, which is great.
silky powder blush in nude nuance: A moderately pigmented powder blush. The shades in the compact go from light coral to bronze, so I can use this one for both the blush and the contour. The texture is very smooth and blends well.
waterproof mascara: This one has a small wand but glides on smoothly. It lengthens the lashes but doesn’t help much with the volume. Still, it makes my lashes look good even without curling. The packaging looks elegant too.
pure color long lasting lipstick: I’ve tried a few colors of this line and love them all. They’re very pigmented and really really long lasting. I think the disadvantage is that they have strong smell, which is not a bad smell but it gets transferred to anything your lips touch like cup or bottle or straw.

Regret

Has it been that long already?
You didn’t open your eyes.
You didn’t stop, or wonder
What it actually felt like at the time.
Something occurred.
Memorable. Momentous.
Significant. It passed.
And you let—so optimistic,
So indifferent—let it pass.
Can you let it go now?

Denial

Tastes like metal and butterflies

and the sting of ice cold needle

tucked somewhere between the third and fourth

ribs, the puncture wound on your tongue.

But the brain won’t stop

and your denial it spins, and weaves, and radiates.

So all you feel is caramel and warm blankets.

Anniversary

Is it fall yet?
I suppose. Though I cannot feel it.
And I imagine you, working,
Drinking, living your life
Somewhere else, as I’m living mine,
Far away, I think of you.

There were moments
Of communication, of talk
And sweet words.
Messages, pictures, both public
And private.
Thoughts, laughter, dreams,
Promises of Paris, of future.
Those were the moments.

Now I’m writing down with words
On a page. Incoherent, fragmented,
So, so unreal.
And I imagine me, with you,
Smiling, at reality, finally.
Never, never true.

Yes, here is fall.
Here is us. And here
Are my memories.

Love Story

You and I would make a story
That begins with your pale green eyes,
Your politely stoic face, and my
Optimistic expectations, that busy evening,
I barely noticed you; now I can barely forget
Every smile, every laugh,
Every word in every conversation,
Open and intimate.
Brief and distant.

You were not my first; and you will
Never be my last.
But you did leave your footprints,
A trace of who you are that stays with who I am,
That beautiful place in the rearview mirror
To which I had no invitation,
And the car had no reverse gear.

And I would have given so much
For a what could have been.
But we are a story; and in my mind
A happy ending too,
But we never could have been
So no one will ever get to know.

Spring Lament

And I won’t break a single bone

Falling for you

Like petals flowing

To the soft earth.

But flowers grow

From seeds and roots,

And velvety petals,

Trampled, crushed,

Become paint on the unyielding ground.
